Shion on the Football Field
This week the Ravine is excited to feature Senior Shion Jamshidi as Wolf of the Week to celebrate his role as the Voice of Kilbourne.
Each morning at the beginning of second period, Kilbourne students hear a student voice over the announcements to provide information for the day, give details about upcoming events, and to get students excited in general about things going on at Kilbourne. We know the voice, but not everyone knows the student behind it.

Shion Jamshidi is a senior here at Kilbourne who is very involved in our school in many different areas. He is a 4-year member of the football team, and a captain this year, a lacrosse player, and one of the Kilbourne Krazies, our student section leaders. Off the field and out of the stands he is also a WKHS news team member and one of the main anchors for the WKHS Media team.
The voice of Kilbourne role, to Shion, is to “inform our students everyday about upcoming events and information they need to know about.”
Although Shion is now an experienced and collected public speaker, his ability to speak in front of crowds is one he has required over many years. He shared with us a story of his first public speaking experience in 5th grade, when he ran for the student council vice president. He’d his whole speech prepared and had practiced for weeks, but as he went up there, this is how he described the feeling,

“When I had finally got up there, I completely blanked seeing all of the eyes staring at me. I couldn’t even read off of my script as the words all looked like gibberish at that moment. I said a few scrambled words with a shaky crying voice, and then sat back down and completely embarrassed myself. I told myself I would never do anything like that again, but here I am speaking in front of my whole high school this year, and I love doing it.””
Shion was pretty hesitant to try out any type of public speaking again after his incident once he got into high school, but its clear now that he’s glad he gave it another try. This story Shion shared reminds students of how important it is in high school, and in life, to embrace opportunities to push past obstacles. You truly never know when you might come across a new activity that you love or discover a new passion!
Kilbourne is lucky that Shion has found his voice and is using it make our school a better and more fun place. Thank you Shion for all you do!
