It’s hard to believe that 2025 marks 10 years since the critically acclaimed musical Hamilton debuted on stage in New York City. Over the past decade, the show has gained immense popularity and has exceeded expectations in ways few could have predicted. Prior to its release, many of the show’s contributors were anxious, fearing it might struggle to find broad appeal and ultimately fall short of success; instead, the show became one of the most recognizable musicals by name and continues to grow in fame!

Hamilton’s Return To Theaters
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Hamilton, creator and original star Lin-Manuel Miranda announced that the show would be released in theaters starting September 5th so that fans could experience the magic on the big screen. Critics responded extremely well to the musicals appearance in theaters with Rotten Tomatoes critic Patrick Beatty saying that he has “rarely seen a recording of a stage musical capture the scale and electricity of a live performance, but Hamilton comes the closest” (Rotten Tomatoes). Audiences were amused with it as well, one even saying that “watching this show on the big screen is next best thing to seeing it live” (Rotten Tomatoes).
Tony Awards Reunion

Not only were Hamilfans able to experience the show on the big screen, but also on stage once again at the 78th annual Tony Awards. Back in June, the original cast of Hamilton reunited at the Tony Awards to perform a variety of songs from the musical. The performance included tracks from the musical such as “Non Stop,” “My Shot,” “The Schuyler Sisters,” “Guns and Ships,” “You’ll Be Back,” “Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down),” “The Room Where It Happens,” and “History Has Its Eyes on You.” Fans were delighted to see their favorites take on their iconic roles one last time.
Leslie Odom Jr. Returning To Hamilton

Though most of the cast members have retired from their roles in Hamilton, one cast member took fans by surprise by announcing his return to the stage. Leslie Odom Jr. announced through social media and during an interview with Good Morning America that he would be returning to the stage to reprise his role as Aaron Burr for 12 weeks. Odom will be taking on his infamous role yet again from September 9th to November 26th, 2025 to celebrate the shows 10 year anniversary.
Since opening day on February 17th, 2015, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton has received 11 Tony Awards, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, and an overflowing amount of love from its fans. If you haven’t yet seen the production, make sure to get out to your local theater or watch it from the comfort of your own home to celebrate the 10th year of America’s beloved musical Hamilton!
