The holiday season brings a lot of good things with it, from good music, holiday specials on TV, and spending time with family to having a couple of weeks off from school. Regardless of your favorite part, we can all agree that the desserts eaten around the holiday season are always underrated. While there are so many different desserts to indulge in—here are three of my favorites.
Cinnamon rolls
These delicious homemade cinnamon rolls are bound to have you watering at the mouth.
This recipe takes roughly 2.5 hours to make, but the time could vary based on how long you let your dough rise for.
When making the filling, instead of spreading the softened butter across the dough, I mixed together the butter with the cinnamon and brown sugar to make a paste-like consistency and found it easier to spread across the dough; however, I would recommend that you put a little more butter if you are going to use that method.
The hardest part of the recipe is making the dough and making sure you mix all the dough ingredients in the right order to make sure it rises well. It is also not the quickest recipe out there, so if you are in a rush and don’t have the time to let the yeast do its job, then I would suggest just buying the Pillsbury equivalent; however, if you have the time to make this delish treat from scratch, you won’t regret it.
Difficulty: 6.5/10
Taste wise, it might be the greatest cinnamon roll I have ever had. The warm bun with the nice, sticky, gooey, frosting on top was to die for. Eating them straight out of the oven made it feel like you were cozying up on the couch and enjoying a late night snack.
Taste: 8.5/10
Chocolate Chip Cookies
(Koppert Family Recipe…secret)
Who doesn’t like a warm, rich, chocolatey, gooey chocolate chip cookie.
There is a reason that chocolate chip cookies are left out for Santa each Christmas Eve. The man has good taste.
While I’m not going to give up my (secret) family recipe, many families out there have their own delicious chocolate chip cookie recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. If you don’t believe me, then go ask your grandparents and I can almost guarantee you they have a recipe they would be happy to share with you.
The key to a good chocolate chip cookie however, is making all of it from scratch. It will always be 100x better if you make everything yourself and don’t cheat by using mix.
While I normally leave the cookies to my grandma, making them is fairly simple and easy, with the hardest part being not eating all the cookie dough before putting it into the oven.
Difficulty: 3/10
Nothing beats a homemade cookie straight out of Grandma’s recipe book.
Taste: 9/10
Naughty Brownies
@stephsharesitall Naughty Brownies are always a crowd pleaser and an easy dessert to make. You’ll need brownie mix, oreos, and a tub of cookie dough.
Who knew that TikTok could be a place to find so many tasty treats. These Naughty Brownies are another big hit.
The bottom layer is cookie dough; the middle is a layer of Oreos, all topped with brownie batter.
It is heaven for anyone who loves chocolate, and lucky for me, I am a big fan of anything chocolate.
This recipe is for anyone who doesn’t want to put in all the effort to make everything from scratch, but still wants to be a hit when it comes to bringing desserts this holiday season.
The only thing difficult about this recipe is having the patience to make it and while waiting for it all to cool down before digging into this delectable sweet treat.
Difficulty: 4/10
These brownies are some of the best sweet treats I have ever had as a chocolate connoisseur. Of course cookies, Oreos, and brownies would all work together, I just wish someone would have thought of this idea earlier.
Taste: 9.5/10
While you cannot possibly go wrong with any of these recipes this holiday season, if you want to make a great treat and put in as little effort as possible, I would recommend going with the Naughty Brownies.
As you continue baking this holiday season, don’t be afraid to try a new recipe out because you never know when you might just find your new favorite treat.
