This week, The Ravine is excited to feature freshman Audrey Bennett as Wolf Of The Week for her record-breaking accomplishments on the basketball court. Audrey Bennett began her first year of high school basketball back in November and has since gained a lot of attention around Worthington Kilbourne High School for her remarkable dedication and talent.
Bennett is in her 10th year of playing basketball and has already achieved so much. She started at ages 4-5 playing for Worthington Youth Boosters, and then switched over to Worthington Christian and played there for four years. In 6th grade, Bennett returned to WYB, and then joined the McCord Girls Basketball Team the following year. In her final year of middle school, Bennett “played in the Made Hoops East Coast Circuit with [her] AAU [Amateur Atheltic Union] team instead of playing 8th grade school ball.” Bennett just finished her first season “playing basketball for WKHS” and is planning to play her 4th year with AAU again in the spring.

Because of Bennett’s undeniable talent in the sport, there are countless moments in her career to be proud of. One moment that Bennett shared to be her proudest was “winning the COBA [Central Ohio Basketball Association] championship in sixth grade.” Bennett explained how “the game went into five overtimes” and her team ultimately claimed the victory, “securing [them] the spot [of the] #1 sixth grade team in Ohio.”

For Bennett, basketball offers more than just the trophies and the competition. Basketball has led Bennett to be able to “play with [her] best friends at a high school level,” and also “make many new friendships” with players from across the country.
Looking ahead, Bennett has plans and accomplishments that she hopes to achieve in the near future. For the rest of high school, Bennett’s goal is to “continue contributing to the team and [ultimately] help bring success to the court.” She plans to “continue to play AAU basketball throughout the spring, and hopefully gain attention from college coaches” and “maybe one day play in college.”
WKHS is so proud to have such a dedicated athlete like Audrey Bennett and we are so excited to see her grow throughout her remaining years here at Kilbourne! Go Wolves!
