During spring, the weather becomes warmer, the days lengthen, and many outdoor activities make a long-awaited return. Here are some of the best returning activities to enjoy in Columbus.

Downtown Columbus in the evening

Parks:

Along with warmer weather comes the return of more people enjoying parks around the Columbus area, including the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, as well as metro parks like Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park and Glacier Ridge Metro Park. Bruce Babbitt, a former United States Secretary of the Interior, claimed that “City parks serve, day in and day out, as the primary green spaces for the majority of Americans”. Parks are great for improving health and sleep, as well as the benefits that come with a park itself, helping reduce air and water pollution while protecting areas from unnecessary development.

Pickleball:

Another sport that makes an exciting return in the spring is pickleball, especially outdoor at both parks and facilities, including Pickle & Chill, the largest dedicated pickleball facility in the midwest, right here in Columbus, Ohio. Nearly 3,000 people come to play at Pickle & Chill every week, for both casual and competitive play, and they also consistently teach about 125 people how to play every month. Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States, and its activity is sure to increase even more this spring and into the summer.
