“Met Gala for social media influencers” is what the online world has named a desert music festival called Coachella. Coachella is one of the biggest content creating outlets for those who entertain us on our favorite platforms, like Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube and so many others. Documenting outfits, to parties, to even everything they eat that weekend. Some love the weekend and use it to have fun, while others treat the weekend as life or death.

The Ravine researched influencers preparation, thoughts, opinions of the whole event. One of them being Gia, most popular known for being on dance moms and know teaches dance while also content creating. She gives her followers and insight of what Los Angeles California looks like and feels like as and influencer. “About a week before coachella all these brands rent out big mansions and do huge giftings and invite literally every content creator you could ever know so that everyone has outfits and is dressed by the brand for Coachella.” The video goes on to her going to three separate events and seeing up to fourteen brands all in one day.

Sophie Rain posts on outlets from Instagram, Tiktok and other paid platforms. She has posted ten-plus videos on her page about coachella but the one getting the most commotion is how much it costed her to take her and all her friends to the event. “The total cost for three days at coachella is $193,845.86. Do you guys think this is worth it?” Says Sophie at the end of her viral TikTok. Fans are saying things in the comments like “Meanwhile people are struggling to afford groceries” and “I had to choose between utilities and groceries but enjoy coachella.” Sophies has not responded to any of these comments and has continued posting, even after receiving hate for being unethical.

Tana Mongeau is a popular influencer that has been on many platforms for years, specifically YouTube. She thought the behavior of others at the festival was unacceptable and no longer wanted to participate. “The stuff I’ve witnessed people do and say to other living, breathing human beings is so disgusting.” Tana says in a tiktok video, she later goes on to say it has always been the influencer olympics to her but as she grows older she sees the toxicity that comes with the whole event.
Coachella comes with outfits, risks, drams, preparation and lots of money, all recorded for us to watch on our phones.
