Kaitlin McDonough has been with the Ravine since her sophomore year at Kilbourne. She has been a pivotal writer and a dedicated social media organizer for the Ravine. McDonough is going to the Ohio State University and majoring in Sports Industry and minoring in Journalism. She originally applied to OSU to major in psychology but realized she didn't want to go down that route. "I've been in journalism since my sophmore year and it's always been something I loved so I thought I might as well make it my career" McDonough explains. After being with the Ravine for so long she has gained so many close friends and happy memories but she shares her favorite, "running around the school with Emily trying to hang up posters that would keep falling down, it was so funny and made us the friends we are today". McDonough has written many amazing stories but found her voice through sports features, with her favorites being Not What It Used To Be: The Unfortunate Future of College Basketball and Commit to Your New Years Resolutions. "I have learned over the years of being on the Ravine that writing about something you're interested in is so much more fulfilling and enjoyable and it made me realize I could see myself doing it as a career. In 10 years, McDonough sees herself living in North Carolina and reporting and attending sporting events, specifically college basketball while working for ESPN or CBS Sports.
These seniors have spent their last year of high school dedicated to this newspaper, and the team wouldn’t be anything without them. The Ravine will miss them, but we know it is time for them to share their astonishing work with the world. They are passionate leaders who will surely do amazing things in their future to guide the next generation of journalism and media.
