As we enter December, the holidays are officially upon us! No more arguing over whether it’s too early to put up the tree. It is finally time to enjoy the season without the debates over when to start decorating. Old Worthington in particular is ready for the holiday season with Christmas lights and wreaths lining the streets.

Old Worthington has so much to offer this year from carriage rides around the block to extravagant elves roaming the streets. The businesses and restaurants have their Christmas decorations displayed as well. One being AR Workshop which has a cozy setup in the front window as well as a festive assortment of products as you walk in. Along with the decor, Christmas music fills the streets as you walk. This adds a nice festive touch to the visit and it is always fun to sing along with friends and family as you shop.

However, because we are in the midst of winter, the temperatures make it increasingly difficult to stay outside for long. Worthington Candle Works, a shop in Old Worthington to purchase and even make your own candles, is the perfect stop to make when your fingers and toes start to freeze up. It is nice and warm inside and has a variety of candles to smell and browse through while you take a break from the cold.

During late November, many would spend their afternoons putting up the lights and garlands around the trees and streetlamps that we now see so elegantly in the night. A project that took weeks of preparing and setting up was well worth it and Old Worthington is now beautifully lit for the whole community to come out and enjoy.
Visiting Old Worthington during the holidays is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit if you haven’t already. Many Kilbourne students take a trip to Old Worthington at least once a year, so this year, why not go during the most wonderful time of the year? Senior Payton Shrom shares that her favorite thing about Old Worthington during the holidays is “the lights that go up on the street and all the decor because it really makes it look so nice and festive.β She adds how βit makes it more fun to walk around.β Similarly, Kylie Taylor, another senior at WKHS, says she enjoys “the lights and the activities [Old Worthington] provides.” Make sure to make the most of this holiday season and make time for a trip down to Old Worthington!
